As the overall property market calls for higher-quality sustainability design standards there is much more competition within the built environment to attract investors and to improve the overall well-being and human experience within these spaces.
Light It Design’s approach to the Sustainable Lighting strategy has common points across the different typology of standards to achieve the agreed credits for sustainability certifications.
Over the years, we have implemented the ESD Lighting strategy based on several National and International Standards. Some of these include LEED, Green Star Interiors v.1.3, Well v2, NABERS, compliance with NCC codes (Section J7 Power Density in particular) and Australian Lighting Standards (from Workplace to Hospitality, Residential, Educational, Landscape, Heritage, Health Care & Hospitals)
We also take into consideration emerging international trends for a sustainable and Eco-friendly approach to Lighting Design such as the Circular Economy. Other key references are the TM65 and TM66 (which are International Technical Memoranda) and both provide information on the impact on human health and the greater ecosystem of product materials.
The first provides guidance on how to calculate the embodied carbon of building services equipment and the second provides a framework for action and assessment within the lighting industry to create a circular economy in lighting, re-furbishing existing light fittings already own by the Client and re-using (where possible).
We pay particular attention to credits related to innovation that could help to increase the final score for the submission to differing certification bodies.
While working on the 3D model within the Lighting Software Calculations, we apply the finishes specified by the ID to allow for a reflectance of the walls, ceiling, and floors, as accurately as possible. To finalise the project plan we apply the proposed lighting and work to reduce the quantity of light fittings and the power consumption overall.
At Light It Design we are ready to work with you to achieve these goals and bring your project to the next level.
