1888 Hotel Darling Harbour - Sydney
The aim of Lighting Design for the new 1888 Hotel Darling Harbour is to focus not only on the rooms and the lobby but also to transform the transition area into a feature element. This has been achieved by reversing the usual perception of lighting design: creating a game of shadows that emphasises the room numbers as a key feature element and not simply a direction to look for when a guest is trying to find their room. Rooms with gentle layers of lighting allow for different set ups and moods. Project designed with the leading firm at the time Medland Engineers.
